Looking For Ghosts: New Orleans 2018

September 2018.

When our flights weren’t cancelled due to the incoming Tropical Storm Tax Accountant Gordon, we decided to roll the dice and head for the clouds.

And what a fabulous decision that was!

The Boot was miraculously spared with the storm veering off toward Alabama, and the expected storm surge also failing to make an appearance. Barring a couple of scattered thunderstorms and some muggy 90+ degree days, this was one vacation we absolutely cannot wait to put on repeat.

Since our first trip to NOLA wasn’t much more than a long weekend to celebrate the nuptials of a very special couple, we decided to ham it up on this run and do tons of cheesy, touristy stuff. We also hit a Saints game at the Dome and caught WWE Monday Night Raw at Smoothie King Center. Don’t judge us.

Probably the highlight of the trip for me was the day we spent looking for spooky stuff in the French Quarter and learning the macabre history of New Orleans burial practices in the St. Louis Cemetery No. 1. Did you know NKOTB illegally filmed segments of their iconic “You Got It (The Right Stuff)” video in said cemetery? Tour guide Chad never left us with a dull moment, plus he totally had ponchos for us when it started raining.

We did the 5-In-1 Haunted History Tour of the French Quarter, with every intention of doing individual, more in-depth tours upon future visits. Our tour guide, Gabe, was also super awesome. It was at the end of this tour I happened to notice a lady showing Gabe a little anomaly in a photo she had taken on her phone out front of the Haunted Hotel. I scoffed to myself and deduced it was lens flair from the outdoor light.

THEN I GOT HOME AND UPLOADED MY PHOTOS TO MY COMPUTER.

Holy hell, it’s the same spot from a different angle, and I definitely see a face. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it. Fight me.

Other than that, we had some tasty noms, met some cool people, saw more awesome stuff, and made our regular pilgrimage to Peaches Records for some vinyl and merch. Definitely a great time, 10 out of 10, would recommend.
